When is the right time to file for divorce?

It is often said that timing is everything. When it comes to getting a divorce, though, is there a right time? For couples in New York and elsewhere, filing for divorce is a very personal decision, and the timing of it has to fit within one's own particular circumstances.

Simple possession charge? Not with drug-induced psychosis

You're curious and young. You've heard about some recreational drugs out there that are cheap and give a great high, like bath salts or flakka. What would the possible repercussions be if you got caught? Possibly just a simple possession charge or if you're partying a little too loud, a drunk and disorderly. Nothing that you wouldn't be able to work past with the right legal advice.

Communicating child custody issues can be a challenge

Co-parenting after a divorce can be a great challenge in life. Sadly, too many parents end up fighting, which is something that no one wants to spend years of their life doing. Some conflicts can be prevented by establishing acceptable forms of communication between parents. If desired, parents in New York and elsewhere can include, directly in their child custody orders, specific instructions regarding what forms of communication are allowed.

Divorce: Contested or uncontested, what's the difference?

For some couples in New York and elsewhere, the dissolution of marriage is a long, drawn out process in which numerous disagreements and arguments occur. Other couples, though, may be able to get through the divorce process swiftly and with few issues. The ability to quickly resolve the matter is the difference between an uncontested and contested divorce.

Getting remarried? Consider getting a prenuptial agreement

It is believed that approximately four in 10 new marriages involve at least one individual who has been married previously. Remarriage later in life, though a wonderful thing, carries with it some financial risks for oneself and any children one has had through previous relationships. For those in New York and elsewhere who have found love again, it is okay to want to seek out the appropriate legal protections before walking down the aisle. A prenuptial agreement may be just the ticket.
