In a recent case, the non-custodial parent refused to comply with a previous order of child support, resulting in a significant amount of child support arrears owed to the custodial parent. After the filing of a violation petition, the firm was successful in obtaining an award of child support, child support arrears, unreimbursed medical expenses, and counsel fees on behalf of the custodial parent. The court found that the non-custodial parent failed to comply with the original order of child support and the Support Magistrate granted an award of counsel fees to the custodial parent.
